It is the longest mountain range in eastern Trentino and extends for 70 kilometres. A long stretch overlooks the Val di Fiemme, and seems to draw the silhouettes of gigantic rippling waves in the sky. The sequence of peaks of the Catena delLagoraiit is a bit like the alter ego of the Dolomites. The dolomite limestone rocks do not retain a trickle of water, but enchant with reddish reflections, the porphyritic rocks of the Lagorai are precious caskets of emerald green water. Some lakes are surrounded by rhododendrons, others by meadows, still others are set in the rocks. On the Lagorai, where eagles dare, you can walk for days without meeting a human being. It is one of the last Alpine territories left intact. There are 14 stretches of water in the Lagorai that dominate the Val di Fiemme. Some are easily accessible, others require training and are: Buse Lake, Montalon Lake, Stellune Lake, Buse Basse Lakes, Forame Lake, Lagorai Lakes, Bombasèl Lakes (reachable with the Alpe Cermis ski lifts and an easy walk), Lagorai Lake, Laghetti delle Aie, Lago Brutto, Lago delle Trote, Lago di Moregna, Laghetto Caserina and Lago di Cece (reachable by a path accessible to disabled people).
A stone's throw from Fiemme, in the Paneveggio Park, the Colbricon lakes are also worth a walk.
PASSO ROLLE
The height, about 2000 meters above sea level, the naturalistic context and the top-level equipment make this pass one of the most popular ski destinations in the Dolomites, also because it is perfectly integrated with the offer of the most famous resort in the area, San Martino di Castrozza, which is just 9 km away. Passo Rolle, in the incomparable scenery of Cimon della Pala and Cima Vezzana, is an inhabited nucleus around the pass, in a unique position, and the equipment with which it is equipped make it an ideal starting point for discovering some of the most memorable glimpses of the alpine arc. Excursions with snowshoes or mountaineering skis find very beautiful itineraries, between Vanoi and Lake Calaita (easy stretch), or towards Tognola (sometimes more demanding but exciting). And since skiing and outings whet the appetite, Passo Rolle puts the local gastronomic tradition on the table, which can be enjoyed in typical environments such as the Venegia and Venegiota malghe.
